After Kyarr, Cyclone Maha to bring heavy rains in Maharashtra

After Kyarr, the India Meteorological Department has predicted that the huge Cyclone Maha has moved north from Lakshadweep would cause widespread rains or thunderstorms in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. The cyclone is later expected to move towards the west-northwest from the western central Arabian Sea as it is likely to intensify into a very severe cyclone.

According to the rainfall data available with Sky met, Solapur has recorded 33 mm of rain, Nashik 14 mm, Pune 8 mm and Satara 6 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday.

The state of Maharashtra has seen unusual October rains so far and the reason can be attributed to back to back Cyclones. These systems have influenced the weather of the state so much, that Konkan and Goa is rain excess by 133% and Madhya Maharashtra by 172%, at present.
