SC decides the fate of Maharashtra politics, orders floor test tomorrow

The Supreme Court on Tuesday has passed an order deciding the fate of Maharashtra Politics  as the apex court directs to conduct floor test on November 27 after hearing the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress’s  plea for the same.SC also orders that the proceedings for the floor test to be telecast live. There will be no secret ballots and the proceedings will be conducted by Pro-tem Speaker.

While speaking to the press Prithvi raj Chavan said that “the decision which is passed by the apex court is accepted by us and on Constitution Day a tribute has been given by this decision. I request CM Devendra Fadnavis to sumbit his resignation from the post today itself”.

A bench of Justices N V Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna has passed their decision on the special plea of NCP-Shiv Sena-Cong taking note of the key letters of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form the government, and of the BJP leader claiming the support of the required number of MLAs to stake claim submitted by the Centre.

On Sunday, the apex court held an urgent hearing of a plea filed by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress, challenging the Governor’s decision on revoking President’s Rule and invite Fadnavis to form the government. While the court is yet to set an immediate date for a floor test, the BJP has begun working to shore up its numbers. The single largest party with 105 MLAs requires the support of 40 more MLAs to get to a majority of 145 in the 288-member state Assembly.
