Tarun Bharat enter Super Six

Tarun Bharat won their all two league matches to enter the Super Six stage in 22nd Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Vasant Nagar ground here on Monday.

The tournament has been organised in association with OCW, SBI and HCL Technologies. Batting first Loksatta scored a challenging total of 104 for 7 in 20 overs. Thanks to Avishkar Deshmukh who scored 40 runs in 55 balls hitting five boundaries. He was well supported by Prashant Kshirsagar (21) and Chandrashekhar Kuthe (10). For Tarun Bharat Shree Panchbhai claimed three wickets for 23 runs. In reply, riding on Nitin Baitule’s unbeaten knock of 62 runs, Tarun Bharat achieved the target in 10.5 overs. Roshan Tamboli (19) also batted well.

Head of the Department of Sports of Dhanwate National College Dr Devendra Wankhede gave the man-of-the-match trophy to Baitule. On Tuesday, The Times of India will take on Punyanagari at 9 a.m.

Tarun Bharat: 109 for 3 in 10.5 overs (Nitin Baitule 62 *, Roshan Tamboli 19, Avishkar Deshmukh, Rahul Thakre and Harshwardhan Datir one wicket each)
