Bawa shines in Tarun Bharat victory

Skipper Mannu Bawa claimed seven wickets as Tarun Bharat thrashed Punyanagari by eight wickets in the low scoring super six ties of 22nd OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Ambedkar College ground, Deekshabhoomi here on Sunday. The tournament has been organised in association with SBI and HCL Technologies.

Batting first Punyanagari’s innings collapsed like a pack of cards and they were bowled out for a paltry 50 in 10 overs. Bawa ripped through the batting line up and claimed seven wickets. In reply, Tarun Bharat achieved the target losing just two wickets in 7.5 overs. Dinesh Borkar (16*) and Rupesh Vandre (16) completed the formalities.

Dr Suresh Chandak handed over the man-of-the-match trophy to Mannu Bawa.

Brief scores

Punyannagari: 50 all out in 10 overs (Pankaj Pande 18, Mannu Bawa 7 for 11, Pawan Godbole 2 for 12)

Tarun Bharat: 54 for 2 in 7.5 overs (Dinesh Borkar 16*, Rupesh Vandre 16, Lakhan Jaiswal 12, Sanjay Thakre and Sunil Khorgade one wicket each).

Result: Tarun Bharat won by 8 wickets.

MOM: Mannu Bawa
