Khadke takes Lokmat into final

Man-of-the-match Sachin Khadke’s crucial unbeaten knock of 21 runs helped last year’s runners-up Lokmat to beat Deshonnati by three wickets and enter the final in 22nd OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground here on Tuesday.

The tournament has been organised in association with SBI and HCL Technologies.

Batting first after winning the toss Deshonnati scored 102 all out in 20 overs. Kartik Sahare (27), Sandeep Ganar (24) and Sandeep Dhamde (13) were main scorers.

For Lokmat Sharad Mishra (3 for 27) was the main wicket taker. Nitin Pataria and Amit Khodke too bowled well and captured two each.

In reply, Lokmat, after initial hiccups, achieved the target in 15.2 overs losing seven wickets. Thanks to middle order batsman Sachin Khadke who ensured the victory by scoring unbeaten 21. Sharad Mishra (14) and Nitin Pataria (11) were other scorers. Deshonnati bowled as many as 25 wides that cost them ultimately.

Sandeep Ganar and Kartik Sahare shared six wickets between them.

ZP member and youth leader Salil Deshmukh gave man-of-the-match trophy to Sachin Khadke.

The final between Lokmat and The Times of India will be played on Thursday at the same venue.

Lokmat: 103 for 7 in 15.2 overs (Sachin Khadke 21*, Sharad Mishra 14, Nitin Pataria 11, Sabdeep Ganar 3 for 21, Kartik Sahare 3 for 25)

Result: Lokmat won by three wickets
