In the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the shortage of masks has increased. In such case the dentists of Government Medical Dental College and Hospital demanded for N95 and three-layer’ masks and PPE kit. However, despite the persistent demand, the doctors have not been provided with the masks yet. As a result, there is more danger to these doctors as they are on duty for the treatment of suspected coronavirus patients.
For the past four days, only the emergency section has been kept open. The doctors have been called in and kept sitting all day in the Government Dental Hospital even if there is no work for them. In such a case, they are likely to get exposed to the increased risk of infection.
About 20 to 30 patients are being treated daily in the emergency department. Despite all the chances to get in contact with the virus, doctors have not been provided ‘N95 masks and hence these doctors are treating patients by wearing simple masks.
