Civic authority launches mobile dispensary for expectant mothers

As we know life is full uncertainties and currently we are experiencing the same in the form of novel coronavirus pandemic. Amid this challenging situation, the civic authority of the city has launched mobile dispensary in a bid to reach out to pregnant women and ensure their regular check-up is done during the lockdown. Due to COVID-19 and news about women in pregnancy contracting the virus, the civic body cobbled up mobile medical unit to screen all ladies so that they can be checked-up and provided medical aid in time.

Especially the unit conducted tests on Sunday on pregnant women at Mominpura and Satrajnipura where maximum coronavirus positive cases were detected. The civic body has flagged some areas of city as containment zones and due to this the citizens are unable to move out, barring for purchases of essential commodities that too is being provided to them at their doorsteps. The Health Department of the civic administration is trying to find out high risk persons and going one step further decided to screen all pregnant women who are highly susceptible in this delicate stage.

As per information, the team comprises of lady physician, Gynaecologist, and the van is equipped with small lab where tests of urine and blood samples are conducted. Similarly the medical team also administers necessary injections as per the suggested medical action plan to pregnant ladies. The service of civic body is to ensure that newly born children are safe and do not contract coronavirus and also keep the pregnant ladies healthy and safe.  The NMC has also decided to take throat swab of pregnant ladies during their screening and for it women need not be at isolation centres in case their tests results are negative. But in case the swab test is positive then the women would be admitted to hospital and kept under observation of senior doctors.
