Fire breaks out at Ambazari Biodiversity Park, gutted grass in 9 ha land

After a short circuit at one of the feeders at Shankar Nagar tower line of MSEDCL ,a fire  broke out in Ambazari Biodiversity Park in compartment no:797 reserved forest, gridno: 3, Wasudeo Nagar, on Tuesday morning that gutted grass and dried leaves spread in nine hectares of land.

As per information,a forest labourer working at the watchtower no:1 noticed fire and he immediately informed the control room.After getting information, the staff from Ambazari and Range Forest Officer and field staff members of Hingna Forest Range rush to the spot.The staff members called fire tenders from Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Trimurti Nagar and Wadi. Meanwhile, the field staff started extinguishing the fire with the help of air blowers.

The staff members were able to bring the fire under control within two hours in the morning. Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Nagpur, who reached the spot, said that Forest Department registered an offence in this regard. P Kalyan Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forest, and Assistant Conservator of Forest, also reached the spot and discussed with senior officers of MSEDCL about measures to be taken in the future to avoid fire. The Asstt Engineer checked line tripping data and found the line was tripped from 7.29 am to 7.34 am.The cause of the fire was short circuit. Meanwhile, the Biodiversity Park is closed in view of coronavirus pandemic and lockdown. The 758 hectares of land of the park is basically grassland and hence it is difficult to control fire.
