Seven Receive Second Dose of Covaxin at Gillurkar Multi Speciality Hospital

The second dose of human trial of Covaxin vaccine has been administered to seven people including a woman in the Gillurkar Multi Speciality Hospital. As per information, no side effect was seen among them in the last 14 days. Hospital director Dr.Chandrashekhar Gillurkar confirmed that the vaccine is safe. Around 12 centres in the country have been selected for the human trial of the Covaxin vaccine made by Bharat Biotech by the drug controller General of India(DCGI).Gillurkar hospital in Nagpur is included among them.

The human trial was started in the fourth week of July. At first vaccine was administered in the four centres.Later, four more centres were include. The first dose of the vaccine was administered to 55 people from July 25 to 29 in Gillukar hospital.Dr.Chandrashekhar Gillurkar said that in the first dose of 0.5 ml.0.3 microgram was medicine. On July 27, the hospital started human trial in the state by giving Covaxin to three people. On the second day, the vaccine was administered in four people including a student. Later in the next four days, the vaccine was given to 48 people. When no symptom was found after 14 days, the second dose was given increasing the quantity. This dose contains 0.6 microgram of medicine in 0.5ml.Rest of the people will given second dose after completion of 14 days. As per information, the 42 out of 55 were male and 13 were female. Among them there were 30 youths in the age group of 20 to 30 years.
