Overflow of Jambudeep nullah a major concern for locals

The first monsoon spell has left the drainage system of the city exposed. The Jambudeep Nagar mullah has become a nightmare for the residence as they often face problems in rainy reasons as the water enters into their houses or basement flooding their area exposing the work of administration.

Jambudeep Nullah one of the important nullah of South Nagpur, carrying out the drainage from Sharda Chowk to Bidipeth passing from Jambudeep Nagar, Mahalaxmi Nagar and  Ladekar Layout,  ending at the main nullah at Manewada.

For Jambudeep Nagar residence the nullah has become a nightmare, especially during the rainy season. “We are really scared. When the rain starts at night, we vacate the ground floor of our house and come to first floor,” said Mukund Muley, Social Worker and resident of the locality.  Other residents also echoed that no elected representative including the MLA showed any seriousness about the burning issue.

The twenty years old nullah is in deplorable condition and is also life-threatening not only to the resident but also to the commuters. The resident has also met Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, and brought to his notice about deteriorating the condition of the nullah. Stating the reason of the pandemic, Mayor has closed their issue. The nullah after a little rain fall gets overflow and water enters into the house of the adjoining locality. “Proper drainage system is must for the entire city. People from other parts of the city come to see the overflow scene, in the rainy season. The civic authorities must awake in time and give proper attention to the burning problem,” Muley said.
