‘Speed up Smart City Project work’ Nitin Gadkari

In a review meeting held with the district administration recently regarding the smart City Project, Union minister Nitin Gadkari instructed the authorities providing facilities like water, drainage, electricity, sanitation to citizens to speed up work on priority based.

He further gave instructions to rehabilitate those who are losing their land for the project. The roads under smart city project should be designed in such a way that it would reduce the expenditure, instructed Gadkari.

The review meeting was held regarding Smart City Project, in which mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, MP Dr Vikas Mahatme, MLA Krishna Khopde, MLA Praveen Datke, standing chairman Prakash Bhoyar, munici B, commissioner Radhakrishnan Suryavanshi from NIT, district collector Ravindra Thakare, Mahesh Morone of Smart City were pres ent. Under the Smart City Project, the city will be developed in two ways, with regional and pan city solution.

It has been decided to implement land pooling pattern for develop
ment of 1,730 acres of land Bharatwada, Punapur, Nagpur. But while doing this development, 40 per cent of the land is being kept reserved for basic facilities and public con venience.

Gadkari also drew attention towards the demand of compensation as 40 per cent of the land would be taken from the citizens. He also advised to design road that should be capable of transporting a vehicle weighing 40 tons, which would cut expenses. With the current road design, 650 crore is being spent only in making the roads. However, with the new design, it is possible to reduce the cost.

Rehabilitate brickiln operators Gadkari gave instructions during the meeting to rehabilitate the brick-making families of Kumbhar community of east Nagpur and provide them a place for business near the kiln. He also advised the brick makers to make bricks from fly ash instead of clay.
