Want to uplift the rural livelihood of the district: Vimala R, Collector

Nagpur has huge potential for development and want to develop the rural livelihood of the people, said Vimala R, Nagpur District Collector, during a meet the press program on Tuesday.

She added that she enjoyed visiting Nagpur during the assembly sessions and already had an idea of the place.

“Although at present the thrust is on control of Covid-19 pandemic and the increasing dengue cases in the district. But I wish to implement the concept of ‘Patrakar Didi’ for rural women, like in Bihar,” She said.

Explaining the reason for the delay in relaxation she said that though the city was in Level One, although self-discipline was missing among the people regarding following the COVID protocol.

“The Government is more conscious on the welfare of the people. So looking at the possibility of the third wave there was a delay in giving relaxation,” She clarified.

She also expressed satisfaction over vaccination speed in the district. “The vaccination percentage of the first dose is 52 and that of the second dose is 28 per cent. In up country the rate is little slow. Now efforts are being taken to increase vaccination centers in rural areas. We have talked with industrialists and they are ready to open vaccination centers at their factory itself.” Vimala R said.

She also briefed about the preparations and making medical infrastructure ready considering the third wave possibility. Emphasizing on her style of working she summed that she is a committed and compassionate Burucrate and likes to interact with people.
