Forest Department has cancelled the pilgrimage at Mahadev temples at Dhargad, Jatashankar, and Mangeri at Sonala in Akot Wildlife Division on August 22 and 23 (third week) of Shravan maas, owing to coronavirus pandemic and possible third wave, informed S Navkishor Reddy, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Akot Wildlife Division, Akot.
The Amravati Collector has already issued orders for closure of all religious places in the district. Reddy has appealed to the people not to enter in the jungle area and extend cooperation to the administration. If the persons/pilgrims are entering in the jungle during this period they should keep in mind that they run the risk of life. The department would take action against such violators under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
