Pench to celebrate Wildlife Week from Oct 1

Management of Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR) has organised various programmes from October 1 to 7 as part of celebrating the Wildlife Week. It has organised the events by following the rules for COVIDd-19.

It will organise inaugural functions at seven entry gates of PTR in on the opening day in presence of the available tourists there. Specialists will guide the participants on the importance of wildlife, its protection and conservation, said Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, Deputy Conservator of Forest, PTR, Nagpur, on Wednesday.

On October 2, PTR officials have organised a bi-cycle rally from Navegaon-Khairy to Surewani, tour of journalists and cleanliness drive at every protection hut and rest house. Next day, the management will also organise a bi-cycle rally for India for Tigers – A Rally on Wheels programme of National Tiger Conservation Authority under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. Moreover, a function will be held for villagers in and around Pench on creating awareness among them about man-animal conflict and anti-electrocution.

On October 4, the management has organised drawing/painting/song writing competitions for students of 8th to 10th standards from committee villages. The others programmes include: meeting of stakeholders, discussion programme on forest crimes, investigations and sorting them out, discussion with officials of different companies on issues concerning CSR, Photographic exhibition in Nagpur HQ and discussions with officers and field staff members from PTR, Nagpur office etc., informed Dr shukla.
