Staff members of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and volunteers of Green Vigil organised a programme at Ramnagar Chowk on Pournima (full moon night) on Monday to create awareness among the people about saving electricity. Anil Sole, former Mayor, had taken initiative in starting this programme.
The staff and volunteers appealed to people to keep unwanted lights switched off for one hour from 8 pm to 9 pm on Pournima day. They create awareness in a particular area of the city and this time it was Ramnagar Chowk. The volunteers explained the concept behind this programme.
Kaushtubh Chatterjee, President of Green Vigil, Surbhi Jaiswal, Mohul Kosurkar, Shriya Joge, Vishnudeo Yadav, Paras Jangde, Tushar Deshmukh, Priya Yadav and others appealed to shop-keepers and citizens to keep lights off for one hour to save power. The businessmen and citizens positively responded and kept the lights off. NMC had also kept some street lights off.
