Transport Minister appeals to MSRTC employees to join duties

Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab has appealed to the employees of Maharashtra Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to return to the work.

The report of the Committee constituted by the Government has stated that merger of MSRTC with the Government is not possible.

The employees at lower grades are on the strike for the last over four months. The major demand of the employees is merger of MSRTC with the Government.

The State Government has agreed to revise their salaries and a major hike in the salary was offered. Some of the employees joined the duties following the revision in pay scales. However, the number was not enough to run the state transport buses regularly.

The employees were firm on their demand of merger with the State Government. The issue came up following lockdown during Covid 19 pandemic. The salaries were not being paid regularly. Some temporary or contractual workers lost their jobs. Fearing bleak future the employees started agitation demanding merger with the State Government.

A large number of employees were suspendedna dna slo removed from service. Parab has appealed to all the employees, including those suspended or retrenched from service, to join the duties.
