27 year old gets a new ray of hope of life in Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur

Tragedy had hit not just 27 year old Akshay but his entire family when he met with an accident on 22nd March. He was hit by an over speeding bus near Nagbhid. The watching took him to a nearby health facility. Seeing the complexity of the case, he was rushed to a higher centre.

He reached Wockhardt Hospital in the late evening. Akshay was brought to the emergency department of Wockhardt Hospital in a state of experiencing excruciating pain. He was not even able to move his lower limb and back. He was immediately stabilized. Immediately trauma team was activated, led by Dr. Nitin Kimmatkar. Several necessary investigations were done which were suggestive of multiple pelvic fractures which were complicated and he had pelvis and bladder injury.

After thorough assessment and stabilization, the patient was posted and taken for surgery. Pelvic surgery was the toughest part in this case, which was broken in 4-5 parts. Post surgery the patient was placed in ICU where he was managed by Dr. Vaibhav Agrawal. He looked after the patient’s safe retrieval to normal physiology amidst some complications.

After stabilization, Akshay was posted for a reconstruction surgery which was the most crucial part of his treatment. His pelvic bone was operated . Post surgery, he was placed in ICU where his management was done by Dr. Vaibhav Agrawal, Consultant- Internal Medicine and Critical Care.

“Akshay is recovering from this tragic incident both physically and mentally.  We are hopeful that he will be walking without any support”. Said Dr. Kimmatkar. “It gives a sense of satisfaction to be able to save a life”, he added.

“We are known to handle high-end cases which are denied by other healthcare providers in the region and we feel great to be reaching a new milestone every time”, said Mr. Abhinandan Dastenavar, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, and Nagpur. “After all these events the patient was discharged in good condition”, he added.
