Professor P. K. Mukherji, 88, former Head, PGTD Botany, Nagpur University and a popular academician of Nagpur passed away at Mumbai on Friday, 22 April.
Born at Jabalpur, he worked at SFS College and Institute of Science Nagpur for few years, before joining Nagpur University.
He is survived by two daughters, Dr Nupur Chakravarty, Ophthalmologist and Dr Kumkum Naha, teaching at Bhavans Mumbai and son in laws D.P Chakravarty at BARC and Dr Debashish Naha, Ophthalmologist and popular actor in Hindi cinema.
One ornamental plant Gerbera jamesonii var. Pranav is named after him. His last rites were performed in Mumbai.
