18 patients of swine flu found in city

As many as 20 patients suffering from Influenza A (H1N1) or swine flu have been found in the city this year, along with increasing number of Corona patients. Of them, 16 stay within the limits of Nagpur Municipal Corporation while four stay outside areas. The number of patients is increasing during the past some days.

The Epidemic Department of NMC informed that positive report in case of 18 patients has come after laboratory test. Though swine flu is not that dangerous disease, it can prove serious to senior citizens, pregnant women, high blood pressure, diabetes and less immunity persons in high risk group and can pose threat to life. Therefore, such persons should remain alert, said Dr Govardhan Nawkhare, Nodal Officer.

Reliable medicines are available but one can take if diagnosis is done without any loss of time. If a person suffering  from symptoms like cough, throat/body pain. Then there is a need to examine swine flu along with covid-19. The corporation hospitals/dispensaries and PHCs perform examination free of cost. Out of 20 swine flu patients, 8 are admitted to the hospitals while 12 patients recovered after treatment. The Help Line no of NMC is: 9175414355 from 8 am to 8 pm, said Dr Nawkhare. The people should take care to avoid swine flu such as cleaning hands with soap repeatedly, avoid to be in the crowd, keeping distance of six feet from the patient, using handkerchief while coughing, drinking sufficient water, proper sleep, consuming nutritious food, avoiding handshake, hugging, spitting at public places and taking medicines without advice of a doctor.
