India is at number 132 in the list of 191 nations in the Human Development Index, as per the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) report of 2021. The report was released recently. Surprisingly India is lagging behind Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
In the annual report, India has slumped one stage from 131 last year to 132. Sri Lanka is at 73, China at 79, Bangladesh at 129 and Bhutan at 127.

As per the UNDP report Pakistan is at number 161, Nepal at 143 and Myanmar at 149. The report also says that for the first time in the last 32 years, human development is at standstill.
The downfall is not restricted to India but can be seen almost everywhere in the world. The UNDP Programme Administrator Achim Steiner stated that all the nations are struggling to overcome this problem. The situation of uncertainty prevails and is spreading fast. Global unity and cooperation are necessary to overcome the situation.
