Mah Govt to recruit 20,000 police constables

The much-awaited decision on the recruitment of police personnel at the constable level is being fulfilled by the Maharashtra Government. The cabinet took a decision to recruit about 20,000 constables to the police force.

With the growing population and delay in recruiting police personnel, the police force was facing problems in maintaining law and order situation. Crime in the state has also increased.

The decision to recruit 20,000 constables would benefit the police force.

Development Boards: The cabinet on Tuesday also decided to reconstitute the Development Boards for Vidarbha, Marathwada and Rest of Maharashtra. The boards remained vacant for the last several years.

The most affected regions are stated to be Vidarbha and Marathwada. The backlog of the Vidarbha region, as calculated by the Kelkar Committee is difficult to be removed. But it is alleged that even efforts to reduce the backlog were not made. The demand for a separate Vidarbha is growing because of the continuous exploitation of resources from the region and giving nothing in return.
