The 61st National Athletics Championship will be held in Bengaluru from October 15 to October 19. City athletes Shadab Pathan, Rohit Jha, Prajakta Godbole, and Riya Dohhtare have qualified for it. Based on their performance at the recently finished state selection trials in Nashik, the athletes were chosen.
Shadab will compete in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races on behalf of Maharashtra.
Rohit Jha will take part in the steeple chase over 3,000 metres.

Similar to this, Prajakta Godbole will compete in the 5,000 and 10,000 metre races for women.
Riya Dohtare will take part in the steeple chase over 3,000 metres.
Members of the Track Star Athletics Club, Shadab and Riya received their training from Ravindra Tong.
According to Dr. Sharad Suryavanshi, the secretary of the Nagpur District Athletics Association, Rohit is a student at the Ghulam Nabi Azad College of Physical Education and Prajakta is under the instruction of Gaurav Mirase.
