PM Modi discusses the concept of “one nation, one police uniform” and issues a false news alert

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the states, but it also affects the integrity and unity of the country.

Through video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi spoke to the Chintan Shivir of state home ministers, praising the ongoing brainstorming session at Surajkund in Haryana as a “great model of cooperative federalism.”

The Constitution expresses the idea that states should cooperate for the good of the nation and that they can learn from one another and be inspired by one another, he said.

Additionally, he suggested that states and UTs explore if “one nation, one police uniform” is feasible.

As crime becomes more interstate and worldwide, the prime minister remarked that law and order are not limited to a jurisdiction.

Regarding the exploitation of technology by criminals from outside the border, PM Modi emphasised the necessity of cooperation between local and federal law enforcement authorities.

“It would be impossible to combat them,” he continued, “as long as there is no equivalent response from police & central agencies on these issues & if all states do not come together to fight these.”

The prime minister issued more warnings against false news, stating that it can cause a stir across the country.

“We must take firm action against evil groups for the security and rights of law-abiding individuals.

Even a small bit of false information might cause a nationwide uproar.

People need to be taught to consider before forwarding information and to double check information before believing it “added he.

The two-day Chintan Shivir is an effort to bring a national perspective to policy formation on internal security-related issues, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Modernization of police forces, control of cybercrime, expanded use of IT in the criminal justice system, management of land borders, coastal security, women’s safety, and drug trafficking are just a few of the topics that will be discussed during the Shivir.

At the gathering, which is being presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, were the chief ministers of eight states as well as the home ministers and deputy chief ministers of sixteen states.

On Thursday, Shah addressed the gathering and said, “Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this Chintan Shivir is being organised which will provide a common platform to face challenges before the Nation such as cyber-crime, the spread of narcotics, and cross-border terrorism in uniso.”

He emphasised that the Northeast and J-K are currently the development centres.

“All States will need to combat them by adopting a common approach because crimes nowadays are changing and growing borderless.

The Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting the 3C’s, which stand for Cooperation, Coordination, and Collaboration between the Center and the States, in order to develop and carry out this common strategy, in the spirit of “Cooperative Federalism,” “Whole of Government,” and “Team India,” “Home Minister for the Union said.
