In memory of Shri Rahul Joshi Sir Nagpur District Amateur Selection Chess Championship was held at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur. The championship was organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation. Arun Kumar G won the Championship winning all 8 rounds while Dishank sachin bajaj finished second in the Championship. Arun kumar G and Dishank Sachin Bajaj will represent Nagpur in the will represent Nagpur District in the Maharashtra State Amateur Championship.
Earlier, Shri Ankush Raktade ,Joint Secretary, Maharashtra Chess Association , Bhushan Shriwas Secretary , Chess Association Nagpur , IA Swapnil Bansod , Shri Pradeep Tiwari current National Amateur Champion paid their tribute to Nagpur’s renowned chess coach Late. Rahul Joshi sir.
Smt. Shilpa Wadodkar Sister and Shri Hemant Wadodkar brother in law of late Rahul Joshi Sir distributed the prizes. Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, CAN and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and Shri Deepak Chavan, Chief Arbiter were present on the occasion. The Top two finishers of Amateur Championship were awarded Trophies whereas the players finishing from 3rd to 10th place were awarded Medals in both the championship. In addition to the main prizes, age group prizes were also distributed to the top two finishers in each group.
The Championship was conducted by Chief Arbiter Shri Deepak Chavan assisted by SNA Amit Tembhurne, Prayas Amabde and Prathamesh Machave.
