Postgraduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (PGIVAS) here has been granted a degree course for undergraduates (UG). A decision to this effect was announced in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
As per the cabinet decision, a total of 164 teaching and non-teaching posts, including 60 outsourced posts, will be sanctioned for undergraduate courses. The cabinet also approved budgetary expenses of Rs 316 crore for the establishment of the college.
The intake capacity of 80 seats has been sanctioned. Maharashtra Pradesh BJP Secretary MLARandhir Sawarkar informed that efforts will be made to begin the course from the academic year 2023-24.
The Postgraduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Science here has a campus of 153 acres under Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth. MLA Sawarkar informed that efforts would be made to start a cattle breeding farm, veterinary hospital and research centre here.
