Anil Jaisinghani, aged 56, and his daughter, Aniksha Jaisinghani, aged 24, have been booked for bribery and extortion in a case involving Amruta Fadnavis, wife of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A chargesheet was filed at the Malabar Hill police station detailing the allegations.
According to the Malabar Hill police, Amruta Fadnavis was asked to maintain contact with Anil Jaisinghani to trace his location. During their conversations, Amruta offered assistance to Anil in his cases while discussing her strained relationship with Devendra Fadnavis.
Anil Jaisinghani had been on the run for nearly eight years, using various techniques to evade authorities. Prior to his arrest in this particular case, he was wanted in 15 other cases.
The chargesheet includes purported telephonic chats, and messages exchanged between Amruta Fadnavis and the Jaisinghani family, highlighting potential bribes and extortion discussions and providing information about bookies to the police.
The 793-page document names Anil Jaisinghani, his daughter Aniksha, and his cousin Nirmal in the bribery and extortion attempt case accused. It also includes screenshots of alleged WhatsApp chats as evidence.
The case continues to unfold as the legal proceedings move forward, shedding light on the alleged involvement of the Jaisinghani family in the bribery and extortion scheme linked to Amruta Fadnavis.
