Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with the highest award of France ‘Grand Cross of The Legion of Honour’. The award was conferred upon Modi at the hands of French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday. Both the top leaders expressed happiness and commitment towards the friendship of both nations.
Modi is on a two-day tour of France. Modi tweeted that he most humbly accept the award and thank Macron and the people of France. This is an honour for the 1.40 billion people of India. This also shows France’s resolve to strengthen its friendship with India.
French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday supported the efforts towards strengthening friendship with India. Both India and France are celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations and cooperation. Macron also shared pictures with Modi. Macron also hosted a dinner at Elysee Palace on Thursday. Emmanuel and his wife Brigitte Macron welcomed Modi at the Palace.
Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to receive the award.
