Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is expected to announce a relief package for the farmers affected by unseasonal rains in parts of Maharashtra. The announcement will be made on Friday. Information Minister Anil Patil said.
Unseasonal rains caused heavy damage to crops in Maharashtra. The Opposition parties have been raising the demand of compensation and financial relief to the affected farmers. They also staged demonstrations in front of the Vidhan Bhavan during the ongoing winter session of the State Legislature.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the government is with farmers and understands the difficulties they are facing. He said that the package for the farmers will be announced. The assessment of the losses incurred is in progress.
