Introduction of nursery and kindergarten classes in government schools
On Monday, school minister Kesarkar education Deepak announced that children in Maharashtra will be able to study in nursery and KG classes at government schools. Kindergartens will be established by the state government beginning in the academic year 2023-24.
During the Legislative Assembly’s question hour, Kesarkar responded to queries from NCP (Sharad Pawar group) state president Jayant Patil and other members. Kesarkar further stated that the teacher recruiting process would be concluded in two months. He also stated that the ‘Shalet Chala Abhiyan’ will be undertaken to bring out-of-school youngsters back into the classroom.
Jayant Patil has raised concerns about a survey performed to determine the number of students who dropped out, relocated, or did not attend normal schools. He claimed that thousands of preschoolers in the state were not attending school. However, just a few of these were recorded in the government survey.
In response to the query, Kesarkar stated that the quantity of classrooms will not be reduced. On the contrary, as nursery and KG begin, the number will grow.
According to the report, just 3214 children in the state had dropped out of school.
Raising the problem of 1.25 lakh vacant teacher positions, Congress state president Nana Patole accused the administration of making empty promises. In response, Kesarkar stated that the court had suspended teacher recruitment, causing a delay.
The suspension has been lifted, and the roster is being updated. The sinister stated that the teacher recruitment process shall conclude within two months.
