The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Nagpur Sevagram Express will be converted into LHB from ICF rake. The conversion is being carried out to provide the passengers with better facilities and a comfortable journey. The Link Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches manufactured by Germany are lighter in weight compared to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches.
The LHB coaches will be used on both up and down trains from May 25, 26 and 27. The technology from Germany has been adopted by Indian Railways and the coaches will be made in Kapurthala, Chennai, and Raibareli coach manufacturing units of Indian Railways.
The LHB coaches are lighter and longer. And can be run at a higher speed, and are safe. The brake systems are better. Bio-toilets will be installed in these coaches. The coaches are beneficial as the cooling effect is better compared to ICF coaches and the maintenance cost is lower.
In case of derailment these coaches will not ram into other coaches.
