During the first 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy, gestational diabetes and high blood pressure are commonly found among expectant mothers. Therefore, pregnant women should pay more attention to their health after delivery. With the possibility of gestational diabetes developing in 25 percent of women 5 to 10 years after childbirth, annual diabetes screening is recommended.
Dr. Sandeep Nikhade, the newly appointed President, and Dr. Rujuta Phuke, Secretary of the Nagpur Women and Obstetricians Association, emphasized the importance of postnatal health during a press conference held to introduce the newly formed executive committee of the Nagpur branch of the Indian Medical Association. However, he reassured that expert treatments can mitigate the risk. Dr. Suvarna Joshi, Dr. Shivangi Jahagirdar, and Dr. Nita Sapre were among the attendees at the event.
