Tanvi Dhurve, a rising talent in water polo, has been chosen to represent Maharashtra in the upcoming 50th National Junior Water Polo Championship scheduled in Indore from July 7 to 11. Hailing from Nagpur, Tanvi has secured her spot as the first junior water polo player from the city to join the state team.
A student of Class IX at Swaminarayan School, Tanvi showcased her prowess during the state tournament held in Nashik, where she impressively scored a total of 13 goals across three matches. Notably, she netted six goals against Thane, five against Nashik, and two against Wardha.
The selection process for the Maharashtra team included a rigorous 12-day practice and trial camp held at the Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal swimming pool in Amravati, where Tanvi continued to shine with three goals during the camp.
Tanvi’s achievements in water polo run in the family as her elder brother Sarthak has previously clinched medals representing Maharashtra in the National School Water Polo Tournament in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Congratulatory messages poured in for Tanvi from Swaminarayan School chairman Jignesh Patel, Principal Shweta Khandelwal, Kevin Agrawal, and others, who extended their best wishes for her future endeavors.
