The power tariff will be reduced in the near future with the rise in the use of non-conventional energy in Maharashtra. Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the use of non-conventional energy is about 16 percent of the total energy, which would go up to 54 percent by 2030.
Fadnavis started the work on strengthening and extension in Vidarbha and Marathwada worth Rs 1,734 crores at Vanamati Hall. He also inaugurated Rs 313 crores worth projects on strengthening power units, Prime Minister’s Suryaghar Free Electricity Project, CM’s Free Power to Farmers Scheme, and Shetkari Sanman Yojana.
Legislators Adv Ashish Jaiswal, Dr Parinay Phukey, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Abha Shukla, MSEDCL’s CMD Lokesh Chandra, Director Arvind Bhadikar, Director (Projects) Prasad Reshme were present.
Fadnavis said that the power generation capacity will be increased from 40 MW to 45 MW. The farmers will get a 12-hour power supply for irrigation pumps during the daytime. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the initiative and called it a model project to be followed by others
