To curb tourist misbehavior during jungle safaris and reduce crowding around tiger sightings, the Maharashtra State Government has banned the use of cellphones during safaris in all tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries. The rule came into effect on January 7, 2025, and applies to tourists, nature guides, and Gypsy drivers.
All visitors, including guides and drivers, are required to submit their mobile phones at the safari gates before entering the forest. On-duty staff at the gates will ensure compliance by verifying phone submissions.
Nature guides have also been instructed to inform tourists about the Dos and Don’ts of jungle safaris at the entry point. This measure aims to improve the safari experience while ensuring the safety of both wildlife and visitors.
