Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to expedite the modernization of Nagpur’s Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) and Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) while maintaining top-quality standards here, on Saturday. Highlighting the high patient influx and public trust in these institutions, he stated that ₹1,000 crore has been allocated for their development.
During his visit, Fadnavis reviewed the progress and instructed that all projects be completed on schedule. To monitor the work, he announced the formation of a war room at the District Collector’s office, ensuring quality and timely resolution of challenges.
Fadnavis emphasized the use of solar energy to meet electricity demands and suggested converting both hospital campuses entirely to solar power. He also directed officials to complete existing projects before initiating new ones and prioritize proper maintenance of sanitation facilities and tree plantations on the premises.
A review of the progress will be conducted in April to assess the completion of ongoing projects.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including MLAs Pravin Datke, Mohan Mate, and Ashish Deshmukh, along with administrative and medical authorities, who assured full cooperation in completing the projects.
