L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan sparked controversy after advocating for a 90-hour work week, making headlines for his remarks. In response, dairy brand Amul took a playful jab at the statement with a witty doodle.
Last week, during an interaction with his employees, Subrahmanyan defended L&T’s six-day work week policy and suggested that employees should work 90 hours a week, even proposing they forgo Sundays.
“I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy because I work on Sundays,” L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan said in an undated video circulating on Reddit. He went on to add, “How long can you stare at your wife?” suggesting that employees should prioritize work over time spent at home.
Responding to Subrahmanyan’s comments, dairy brand Amul shared a witty doodle that read: “Labour & Toil? Amul stares at bread daily.”
The illustration featured a man pointing to a Sunday on a calendar while the iconic Amul girl gazes at it, adding a humorous twist to the ongoing debate.
SN Subrahmanyan’s “stare at your wife” comment quickly went viral last week, sparking a flurry of memes and jokes on social media. The remarks also drew reactions from several industrialists, including Anand Mahindra and Harsh Goenka, who joined the conversation with their own takes.
