In a surprising move, Amul, India’s largest dairy brand, has lowered the prices of its milk products, offering relief after years of consistent price hikes. In Gujarat, the prices of Amul Gold, Amul Fresh, and Amul Tea Special milk have been reduced. This price cut marks a notable break from the ongoing rise in milk costs, providing much-needed relief to consumers on January 24, 2025.
Amul’s decision to reduce milk prices is expected to prompt other dairy companies to follow suit, potentially triggering a broader drop in milk prices across the industry. The price cut applies to 1-litre pouches of Amul Gold, Amul Taja, and Amul Tea Special, with each seeing a 1 Rupee reduction. This move is set to benefit consumers and may influence market dynamics, encouraging more competitive pricing among dairy brands.
Amul has reduced the prices of its milk products, with Amul Gold now priced at 65 Rupees (down from 66), Amul Fresh at 53 Rupees (down from 54), and Amul Tea Special at 61 Rupees (down from 62) per litre. This price cut comes as a welcome relief to consumers, especially after a price hike in June 2024, when Amul raised its milk prices by 2 Rupees per litre. The price increases then included a jump in the cost of a 500ML pack of Amul Gold from 32 to 33 Rupees and similar rises for other products. The recent reduction offers a slight reprieve from the previous hikes.
The updated pricing for Amul’s milk products is as follows: Amul Gold is now priced at 65 Rupees (down from 66), Amul Fresh at 53 Rupees (down from 54), and Amul Tea Special at 61 Rupees (down from 62). This revised pricing is expected to be positively received, providing some relief amidst ongoing inflationary pressures.
