The Maharashtra government has announced a 12% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state employees under the unrevised pay scale of the 5th Pay Commission, effective July 1, 2024.
As per a Government Resolution (GR) issued on Tuesday, the DA has been revised from 443% to 455%, benefiting approximately 17 lakh employees. The increased DA will be paid in cash along with the February 2025 salary, including arrears for the period between July 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025.
The GR further states that existing guidelines and provisions for DA disbursement will continue to be followed. The expenditure for the revised DA will be met from budgetary allocations under the respective salary and allowance heads for government employees.
For employees of grant-in-aid institutions and Zilla Parishads, the additional financial burden will be booked under the designated sub-heads meant for their financial assistance.
