28 mobile laboratory vans are being made available in the state within a month to detect adulteration in food. These mobile laboratories will be distributed department-wise, Food and Drug Administration and Special Assistance Minister Narhari Jirwal informed here.
Jirwal reviewed the Food and Drug Administration Department on Friday. After that, he was talking to reporters. Jirwal said, the Food and Drug Administration Department is a very important department related to humans. But there is a shortage of manpower in the department. As many as 40 percent of the posts are vacant. Also, there are only three laboratories. Due to this, there are difficulties in taking appropriate action in adulteration cases. Now action will be taken soon to fill 40 percent of the vacant posts in the department. Recruitment for 190 posts is being done through MPSC. Along with this, 33 people have also been promoted. Other vacant posts will also be filled soon. Along with this, mobile laboratories are being made available as laboratories are needed to detect adulteration. They will be available within a month. He also said that there is a need to enact strict laws to take action against the culprits in adulteration cases.
The new building of the Food and Drug Department has been ready for many years. Jirwal also inspected the building. He said that the building of the department is ready. All the offices and laboratories related to the department will be housed in this single building. Another Rs 20 crore is needed for the materials required for the laboratory. The issue of this fund will be resolved in this session. Minister Narhali Jirwal also claimed that the inauguration of this new building will be held in the coming April.
