The undergraduate and post-graduate students will have to earn 5% credit marks by learning the Indian Knowledge System (KS). The University Grants Commission has made getting 5% IKS mandatory for all degree and post-graduation courses.
UGC Secretary Prof Manish Joshi on Wednesday issued a letter to all the universities informing them of the decision under the National Education Policy 2020.
The students are being encouraged to understand the IKS, which aims at preserving the ancient intelligence inherited by us. The students will be able to learn modern science with Indian ancient scientific knowledge, logic and spirituality. The students will have to earn 50% credit in their major discipline along with 5% from the IKS.
The teachers will be trained in the IKS, the UGC notification says.
