Shaunak Badole wins Nagpur District Amateur Chess Selection Tournament organised by the Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation, Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation & MKH Sancheti Group held at G.H.Raisoni Institute of Information and Technology, Shraddha Park, Wadi Hingna Link Road, Near MIDC Police Station, Nagpur on 20th July 2025..
Shaunak with 8 points out of Nine rounds emerged a clear winner. Dishank Bajaj stood second with 7.5 points. Sahajveer Singh Maras, Swaraj Mishra and Vritika Game also scored 7.5 points but were adjudged 3rd to 5th based on their tie break score.
The event was organised coinciding with the International Chess Day. 196 players participated in the event which included 77 FIDE Rated players.
Shri Nitin Marathe, Superintendent(Retd) Central GST, Director of Eco Balance Foundation and Member of Central India Bird Academy was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution function. Adv Hrishikesh Chitale, Practising Advocate at Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and Shri Pankaj Pawar, Businessman and Ex President of Lions Club Nagpur were the Guests of Honour. Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary Chess Association Nagpur and Chief Arbiter FA Sagar Sakhare were prominently seated on the dias for the prize distribution function. The program was conducted by Shri S.S.Soman.
Apart from Cash Prizes sponsored by MKH Sancheti Group for Top 10 winners, trophies and medals were distributed to Best- Under 7, 9,11,13,15,17, 19 and between age groups 20yrs to 39yrs, 40yrs to 60yrs and above 60 years.FA Sagar Sakhare was the Chief Arbiter for the event who was assisted by FA Bharti Dhote, FA Amit Tembhurne, SNA Prayas Ambade, SNA Shrikant Bagde, SNA Shyam Agrawal, SNA Akash Rewatkar and Prathamesh Machave.
