In a chilling recurrence of human-wildlife conflict, a second tiger attack in the region within a week has claimed the life of a farmer in Kalbhairav Peth Parseoni. The victim, identified as Madhukar Bapurao Raut, was reportedly mauled to death early Monday morning while tending to his field near the forested area.
Upon being alerted, Forest Department officials reached the site and confirmed tiger pugmarks in the vicinity. The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem at the Parseoni government hospital following a spot panchnama.
This marks the second fatal tiger attack reported in the Parseoni-Pench buffer zone this week, raising alarm and fear among residents. The local population, many of whom are dependent on agriculture and cattle grazing near forest edges, are now living in constant fear of further attacks.
Local leaders and villagers have demanded immediate action from the Forest Department — including enhanced patrolling, deployment of trap cameras, and installation of protective barriers in high-risk zones. They have also urged the state government to expedite compensation to the bereaved family and strengthen safety protocols to prevent such tragic incidents.
Wildlife officials are actively monitoring the area and attempting to identify the specific tiger involved. Authorities continue to advise villagers to avoid venturing alone into forested areas during early morning or late evening hours.
This latest incident has once again brought the spotlight on the intensifying human-animal conflict in the region and the urgent need for long-term mitigation strategies.
