Hours after a powerful cloudburst struck Dharali village in Uttarkashi, a dramatic video emerged showing a man crawling out of thick sludge and debris.
The unidentified man, surrounded by destruction, is seen struggling to walk before collapsing and crawling to safety. Onlookers from higher ground can be heard shouting words of encouragement — “Bhaag… bhaag” (run, run) — as he fights to move forward through the mud.
The video then shows another man running to escape the area, though his whereabouts remain unknown. A voice in the background urges, “Arey usko bhi kheench le” (pull him out too), possibly referring to the first man still trying to get out of danger.
These visuals come in the wake of Tuesday afternoon’s cloudburst that triggered a massive landslide, sweeping through the village and leaving it in ruins. At least four people have died, and more than 50 are still missing. Rescue operations are underway as teams from various agencies work round-the-clock in the affected region.
