The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has introduced the FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles, launching on Independence Day. The scheme allows toll-free travel on designated National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
Priced at ?3,000, the pass is designed to offer significant savings for frequent highway users. Under the plan, vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans can make 200 toll crossings without incurring per-trip charges. For example, a traveller paying ?50 per toll would normally spend ?10,000 for 200 crossings, but with the Annual Pass, the same trips would cost just ?3,000.
The pass remains valid for 12 months from activation or until 200 transactions are completed. Once the limit is reached, the FASTag reverts to regular pay-per-use mode. The ministry has clarified that only vehicles with active, linked, and properly installed FASTags will be eligible to purchase the annual pass.
Officials said the initiative aims to make highway travel faster, more economical, and more convenient for regular commuters.
