New Delhi: Airtel subscribers reported widespread network disruptions on Monday, August 18, with many unable to make calls or access mobile internet services. The telecom operator later confirmed the outage in a statement posted on social media platform X.
The issue, which was initially flagged in Delhi-NCR, soon spread to Mumbai and Bengaluru. According to outage-tracking portal Downdetector, over 3,600 complaints were registered by around 4:32 pm on Monday.
In response to user concerns, Airtel acknowledged the disruption and assured that its technical team was working to restore services swiftly. “We are currently experiencing a network outage. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services promptly. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused,” the company said on X.
Downdetector data indicated that most complaints were linked to mobile network connectivity, followed by problems with signal strength and mobile internet. Frustrated customers took to social media to highlight the inconvenience. One user wrote, “Services are completely down. Unable to make or receive calls, and even messages are not working. This is causing serious inconvenience. Please resolve the network outage immediately.”
Airtel reiterated its assurance to resolve the problem quickly, but did not specify a timeline for complete restoration.
