Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit 5 foiled a drug peddling attempt by arresting a 22-year-old youth with 2.04 kg of ganja worth ?51,000 during a late-night operation in Sitabuldi.
The accused, Sheikh Shoaib Sheikh Jameer, a resident of Dabki Road, Akola, was caught near Morris T-Point, Freedom Park to Institute of Science College road. He was carrying the contraband in a trolley suitcase and admitted he intended to sell it for profit.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil by Crime Branch Unit 5 officers and staff.
A case has been filed under the NDPS Act at Sitabuldi Police Station. He has been taken into custody, and further probe is underway.
