A woman seeking legal recourse for a troubled marriage instead faced public humiliation outside the very court meant to help her, after her husband pronounced “talaq” three times in the court premises on Tuesday, ending their marriage on the spot.
The 29-year-old woman from Kamptee had married Nehal Ahmed Ansari in 2021 as per Muslim rites.Domestic disputes soon escalated, forcing her to move back to her parents’ home and take the matter to court. The couple’s case was being heard at the Kamptee First Class Judicial Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
After the day’s hearing, the woman stepped out with her father around 1 pm while he went to fetch their vehicle. Her husband suddenly appeared, hurled abuses at her, and pronounced talaq three times before leaving.Shaken, the woman went directly to Kamptee police station and filed a complaint. Police have registered a case against Ansari.
The incident, occurring on court premises during an ongoing legal proceeding, has triggered discussion in Nagpur district, with attention now on the police investigation.
