A multi-level parking facility will be constructed in the railway station premises, which has been named as a ‘Multi-Modal Transport Hub’. For this project, land acquisition has been recommended, with the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department suggesting the approval of ₹31.33 crore. The state government has informed the High Court about this recommendation.
According to the information provided, several shopkeepers lost their businesses after the flyover in front of the railway station was demolished. The government had promised to rehabilitate them with commercial space. In this context, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation submitted a proposal through the Urban Development Department to the state government. This proposal includes the construction of multi-level parking, for which the mentioned amount has been recommended.
The project involves acquisition of land owned by private parties, the municipal corporation, the education department, and Model School. Although earlier cost assessments were made, the court had asked the state government to submit a clear response by July 31.
During the recent hearing, it was informed that the state’s Land Acquisition Advisory Committee had recommended approval of ₹31.33 crore. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for September 25, when the court will review the government’s stand and the progress made.
