The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for Nagpur and several districts of Vidarbha. As of Thursday afternoon, many parts of the region have already witnessed intense downpours, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in Nagpur city. Officials have cautioned residents to remain indoors unless necessary and to take safety measures against flooding in low-lying areas.
Districts including Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha, Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, Washim, and Buldhana are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Rising water levels in rivers and reservoirs have prompted local administrations to keep disaster management teams ready for emergencies.
Authorities have urged citizens, particularly in rural belts, to stay away from swollen rivers and streams. Farmers are also advised to monitor their fields as excess water may damage standing crops. The warning will remain in force until weather conditions show signs of improvement.
