Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday urged people to embrace honesty, dedication, and credibility in life, cautioning against shortcuts that may offer quick results but undermine long-term success. He was addressing a programme organized by the Akhil Bhartiya Mahanubhav Parishad.
“There is always a shortcut to achieve anything. You may reach faster through shortcuts, but remember — a shortcut often ‘cuts you short’. That’s why values like honesty, credibility, dedication, and truth are important. As written in the Bhagavad Gita — in the end, truth always wins,” Gadkari said.
In a lighter vein, the senior BJP leader remarked that “speaking the truth” is often discouraged in politics, adding, “In the field where I work, speaking the truth with all my heart is prohibited. The one who can fool people the best can be the best leader.”
Gadkari also praised the teachings of Chakradhar Swami, founder of the Mahanubhav sect, calling them timeless lessons for society. “His teachings of truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), peace (shanti), humanity (manavta), and equality (samanta) inspire us to live positively and avoid harming others,” he said.
Known for his candid remarks, Gadkari has frequently sparked discussions with his straightforward views. Earlier this month, he emphasized the need for public interest litigations against the government to ensure accountability, noting that “a court order can often achieve what politicians cannot due to popular politics.”
Last year, Gadkari voiced concern over opportunistic politics, criticizing leaders who switch allegiances to remain with the ruling party. “The one who does good work never gets respect, while those who do bad work are never punished,” he said, adding that the number of leaders firm in their ideology is steadily declining.
